Re: New Slot to a Class Not Displayed in Import Utility
Hi, in order to be able to access any meta-model changes in the Import Utility, you will need to refresh the Target Environment that is current being used as the "Reference" for the list of classes and slots when defining Import Specifications. The easiest way to do this is to do the follo...

Re: Installing in multi-user virtual environment
Hi Ian, we have successfully installed Essential software in VM Windows environments a number of times. Please note however, that we do not provide the installation as an "msi" that is often used for zero-management clients. There may also be security policies (e.g. access rights) specific...

Peter,
the use of real-world use cases is something that we always prefer when defining requirements for extensions to the meta-model and so we would welcome a discussion on the forum of the nature that you describe.
We look forward to your future postings on this subject.

Re: Business Reference Model
Hi, in order to view the Business Reference Model, you will need to ensure that you explicitly capture a 'root' Business Capability in the repository. More specifically, if you haven't done so already, you should create a single highest level Business Capability and make it the parent of the capabil...

Re: technology product build question
Firstly, from what we can see from your original post, your approach makes sense. When looking to map Technology Instances back to Technology Providers (i.e. Technology Products or Technology Product Builds), "Instance of Technology Provider" is indeed the correct field to populate. With r...

Re: Migrating repository from SPARX tool to Essential backend
Hi, as per your request, I was looking into describing the XSL to capture the associations when I noticed that some of the relationships represent containment (e.g. Market Metrics contains Market Metrics Interface). As I have not seen the original model in Sparx, I just wanted to check whether the m...

Hi Tim, apologies for the delay in getting back to you. In short, Protege does not currently support fine-grained user/role-based access control (see Jonathan's post here for a more detailed explanation). However, we are looking into alternative options to support this kind of approach using Essenti...

Re: Migrating repository from SPARX tool to Essential backend
Hi, I believe that the challenge is that in UML and consequently XMI, a "Class" could be describing any type of EA element (e.g. an Application Service, a Data Object, a Technology Product). Therefore, when importing XMI from Sparx, one has to do one of the following: Explicitly define the...

Hi Ana, We are pleased to see that you are looking to re-use the existing classes and relationships. Having said that,...

Re: ECP-7 Business Objectives for Actors
I think the ability for Actors to explicitly share objectives is also needed. Is there also a need to be able to classify objectives in a user-definable way (i.e. not just by domain) so that they can be managed if they get too numerous?

Looks good to me Jon.
I have been involved in a number of commercial negotiations for both products and services with a wide variety of licensing models and I believe that the model you have handles all of the use cases that I have encountered.
Great stuff .
