How to generate application callouts
The online demo shows for the Application Reference Model - APM under the CXO portal ( https://essentialviewer.com/report?XML=reportXML.xml&XSL=ext/shared/ess_al_app_ref_model.xsl&LABEL=Application%20Reference%20Model%20-%20APM&cl=en-gb ) a nice feature where it lists the related softwar...

Re: Simplifying the metamodel
Thanks again for your insights, Colin. At this stage I'm doing an initial trial to better understand the tool and its possibilities but also the implications if we go down this track. So definitely useful information and much appreciated.

Interfacing with Sparx EA
Has anyone done an interface with Sparx EA to keep in sync with its repository content, ideally using an API?

Re: Simplifying the metamodel
Thanks for the reply. It confirms that the sensible thing is to maintain the core and add classes, modify forms and reports to present the info that fits the maturity and also the terms that the organisation is comfortable with. Btw, very impressive reports that you've provided as examples! For anyo...

Re: Import Utility - how to set up login credentials
Yeah, found my own answer: modify the ../essential-import-utility/config/essential_import_users.xml or use the "[email protected]" as the email address and "admin" as the password.

Import Utility - how to set up login credentials
I've got the Import Utility set up alongside my Essential OS install on my dev VM Ubuntu Server (with no internet access). How do I set up the local credentials for the login?

Simplifying the metamodel
I am interested in understanding how the meta model can be modified to make it simpler to apply and more likely understandable and easier to adopt for a low maturity organisation that currently feels more comfortable to maintain some architecture portfolio info using spreadsheets. And if the meta mo...

Re: Updating existing projects to the latest meta model
That is what I tried first before I ran into the memory errors. In the separate discussion thread relating to the error, your response on 31 Oct provided the https://www.enterprise-architecture.org/os_download.php which also provides the Metamodel v6.7 update. You may want to update the pages to avo...

Updating existing projects to the latest meta model
I've downloaded the latest meta model from https://www.enterprise-architecture.org/os_download.php, which gives me 3 essential_baseline_v6_7 files (.pins, .pont, .pprj). How do I update/migrate an existing project to the latest meta model?

Re: Error applying EMM 65 upgrade EUP file in Protégé 3.5
Ah, that explains why fixing it in run_protege.sh worked ok and why changing the memory allocation through the Protege preferences did not work. Thanks Neil.

Re: Error applying EMM 65 upgrade EUP file in Protégé 3.5
I should have clarified in my post that I had already configured Protege to set the initial and max java heap size to 700000000, using File->Preferences->Property Files->Protege.lax. I fixed the problem however by editing run_protege.sh and changing the JVM option to MAX_MEMORY=-Xmx2048M. The memory...

Re: Error applying EMM 65 upgrade EUP file in Protégé 3.5
I'm trying to do the update to the repository as well but encountered the same out of memory errors applying the 6.4 to 6.5 EUP upgrade. Opening the newer essential_baseline_v6.7.pprj in Protege appears to do nothing but the terminal output (see below) shows the "Exception in thread "AWT-E...

Re: Slow performance using the viewer
Hi I created the xml file in my root folder but I would suggest you put it in the user folder, which I do for all our custom reports. Mine is working fine so I assume that it is not finding the file in your case and you need to fix the link. viewerlatestversion.png Regards Colin Thanks for your sug...

I can answer this but unfortunately I’m away from my machine for a couple of days. I’ll try and post ASAP. Re: Slow performance using the viewer

Re: Protege complaints that Java VM could not be found
Kia ora Jonathan. I have protege installed to "/opt/protege", and running it from that directory using "sudo sh ./run_protege.sh". "echo $JAVA_HOME" returns "/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.8.0-openjdk-amd64". There is indeed a "/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.8.0-openjdk-amd64/...

Protege complaints that Java VM could not be found
Hi. I'm trying to get the prerequisites installed and everything seemed fine including Protege quite happily running the install. But when I try to run Protege 3.5 it comes up with a "Java VM could not be found. Please check your JAVA_HOME environment variable". When I do an echo $JAVA_HOM...
