Has anyone done an interface with Sparx EA to keep in sync with its repository content, ideally using an API?

Yes, we have done various interfaces.
Which direction are you interested in integrating? From Essential to Sparx or from Sparx to Essential?

In Essential Cloud (including Essential Docker), a rich API is available for Essential. This is not available, currently for the open-source platform, although there is a *very* generic service API for the Import Utility in the open-source platform
