Hi,

Is there a way to export the jambalaya functionality through a webpage. I would like to deploy the models created in jambalaya through a webpage so that its easy for the end user to browse through the functionality. Or is there any other way to create graphical reports through essential viewer.

Thanks,
Sathish.

Hi Sathish,

Currently, there is not a simple way to get the dynamic SVG models of Jambalaya exported to a webpage. A web-based version of Protege (Web Protege) is being developed but won't be a supported platform for Essential until it is more stable.

However, there are the snapshot and filmstrip capabilities of Jambalaya that might meet your needs. With these approaches, though, you would have to manually manage moving these to a website for others to view.

In Essential Viewer, we use SVG to dynamically create graphical reports from the repository. This enables us to have "click-able" graphical elements which is very useful for drill downs. Some examples of these appear in our demo video, that we're about to publish.
Depending on what you need to display, the SVG reports can be relatively straight-forward to develop for those familiar with XSLT and SVG technologies. However, we have included some rendering Java classes in the Essential viewer for helping with the rendering of node-and-arc style and also graph-plot (x and y mappings) reports.

For static images, we've been looking into exporting the graphical models (e.g. business process flows, technology architectures) as they appear in Protege to be displayed in Essential Viewer reports.

Hope this helps and let us know if there are specific things that you would like to produce.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks that was very helpful, can you please let me know, when the feature of having the business process model and technology model diagrams be available in essential viewer.

Currently, i am saving those as a image and then rendering the same using webpage.

Thanks,
Sathish.

Hi Sathish,

Sorry, no news on this yet.

However, if you haven't already, you might like to take a look at the Visio export component that Clint Cooper has developed.

Just a quick update to let you know that we are now in the process of implementing the feature to have images from the modeller (e.g. business process, technology architectures) exported to the Essential Viewer.

This will be an update to the Essential Widgets and the Essential Viewer

Just a quick note to let you know that this feature has now been completed. Any graphically-defined instance in the modeller (e.g. process flow, application architecture) now has an snapshot image of the graphical diagram exported to the Viewer. These diagrams are included in the relevant reports.

I'll be releasing this over the next day or so.

The update for this is now available on the Downloads page.
Download the Update Installer (essentialupdate.jar) and run it to upgrade your Widgets and Viewer
