Home Application Modelling Using Application Class
Using Application Class PDF Print E-mail

Applications are modelled using the Application Provider class of the Essential Meta Model. However, it can be useful to work with or even just find applications in the repository by the name that they are commonly - if not always correctly - known by. This tutorial introduces the purpose of the Application class of the Essential Meta Model.

Applications

An Application provides a means to group a set of independent Application Providers that are ‘badged’ under or known by a single name. This can be particularly useful if you have found that you need to create two Application Providers that are both known by the same name in the enterprise.

Applications are linked to Application Providers and allows you to model the fact that a number of providers are each part of an Application, e.g. yourOrgSAP_BW and yourOrgSAP_WM could be captured as being part of the Application, SAP.

Create an Application

Creating a New Application screenshotOnce you have identified what Applications exist in a particular area or project, navigate to Application, which is in the Application Logical Layer, and click on the Create Instance button.  new_instance.
This is a very easy form to complete.  You just need to give the Application a name and then Add the Application Providers that you are grouping under this Application and the Business Processes that it supports. As with all other forms, complete as much as you can now, but you can always come back and add further information at a later date.

If you have already created the Application Providers and Business Processes, don't forget to use the Add Instance button. link_instance.

If you have not yet created them, click the Create Instance button new_instance and then add the necessary information.
